The association Frihamnen, which runs Hemlösas Hus in Helsingborg, has the vision that everyone should have a room - a home. Today, there are just over 400 homeless citizens of Helsingborg.
Homeless people can change their situation if the right conditions exist.
Motivation to improve one's life is not a human trait that only some of us have while it is unattainable for others. There are no homeless people who are hopeless cases!
The non-profit association Frihamnen in Helsingborg is politically and religiously independent. Hemlösas Hus was started in 2000 as a local collaboration project, and was state-funded by Projekt Hemlösa. The association was formed a few years later and took over the operation of Hemlösas Hus in 2001, when the state funding ended. The Frihamnen association is run with an annual low municipal contribution at the bottom. The activities in Hemlösas Hus are mainly financed with the help of grants from companies, organizations and private individuals. We have had a 90 account since the spring of 2005.
