The World's Children's Prize educates and strengthens children to be changers who can stand up for everyone's equal value, children's rights, democracy and sustainable development.
Since the year 2000, 45 million children have participated. The WCP program is the world's largest annual educational initiative on children's rights and democracy. Most of the millions of participating children live in weak and poor states. Many of them learn for the first time that they have rights and can make their voices heard, among them former child soldiers, debt slaves and traffickers. Among those who have stood behind WCP as protectors are Malala Yousafzai, Xanana Gusmão and the late Nelson Mandela. Sweden's Queen Silvia and Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Löfven are also patrons.
