A NEW LABORATORY FOR MKULA HOSPITAL IN TANZANIA
Access to a safe and adequate health care system makes a huge difference in people's lives. In Tanzania, a weak economy and rapidly growing population are putting pressure on hospitals to provide safe healthcare with sufficient infrastructure - including buildings, water, waste management and energy.Mkula hospitalSince 2017, EWB-SWE has been collaborating with Mkula Hospital in Northern Tanzania to address pressing infrastructural and architectural issues and provide safe health care for the community. As the only hospital in the district, Mkula Hospital has a catchment area of approx. 204 000 people and treats 90 patients daily.With the water supply, power supply and wastewater management already addressed, the project is now entering its third and last phase: the construction of a new and well functioning laboratory to increase the quality and quantity of patient treatment and ensure quality health care.
