About us

Save the Orangutan Sweden

In Borneo, more than 100,000 orangutans have disappeared since 1999. The orangutan is acutely endangered and the rainforest, its home, is being destroyed at an alarming rate. The orangutans need our help if they are not to disappear during our lifetime.

Save the Orangutan is a non-profit association whose purpose is to ensure the survival of the acutely endangered orangutans and preserve their habitat. This also includes working for environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development together with the local population. In collaboration with our local partner BOS Foundation, we contribute to saving, rehabilitating and returning the orangutans to the wild, as well as protecting and replanting rainforest and engaging the local population in the work. Save the Orangutan has a 90-account, which means that we are controlled by the Swedish Fundraising Control and we are also members of the Voluntary Organizations' Fundraising Council (FRII) and the Donor Guide.

Save the Orangutan believes that orangutans have a place in nature - even in the future.
