The Non-Violence Project Foundation and Project Playground have joined forces to support sustainable change for children and youth. We believe that every child and young person should grow up free from violence and abuse, equipped with hope and opportunities for a brighter future.

Our organizations are excited to start a strategic collaboration aimed at making a significant and lasting impact on creating safer communities. This joint project represents a holistic approach to education, leveraging our combined expertise, infrastructure, and systematic work to drive positive change.

In 2024, we aim to strengthen our impact in diminishing violence and abuse affecting children and youth. Our collaboration will primarily target our existing operations in South Africa and Sweden. By focusing on these areas and starting with implementing the project within our existing operations, we aim to create long-term stability and organic growth within the communities and cities we serve.

Over the past decade, South Africa and Sweden have seen a worrying rise in violence. South Africa, known as the world's murder capital, recorded a 12% increase in homicides to 27,200 in 2021/2022. In Sweden, fatal violence involving firearms has doubled in the last ten years.

Our collaboration will focus on:

Non-Violence Training: Providing training for youth, schools, and adults to promote non-violent conflict resolution and empathy.
Holistic After-School Initiatives: Implementing long-term programs for children facing exclusion, poverty, and/or abuse.
Family Support: Extending support to families, recognizing their crucial role in a child's development.
Train-the-Trainer Approach: Expanding our impact by training educators and community leaders to perpetuate our mission.

Our goal is to raise 100,000 Euros to fund a year-long education and support program benefiting 1,000 children and youths. Your generous contribution will help establish a sustainable model and we hope to be able to expand our impact to other regions, fostering both immediate and long-term project growth.

Många små barn rekryteras till kriminella gäng och drogrelaterade aktiviteter.För 10 000 kronor kan Project Playground Sverige erbjuda utvecklande och kapacitetsstärkande aktiviteter för 3 barn/ungdomar inklusive ledare vid 2 tillfällen. Aktiviteter som gör skillnad.Men vi behöver din hjälp!Tillsammans kan vi göra skillnad och skapa en bättre värld för kommande generationer!I vårt program Life Skills Klubben fokuserar vi på förebyggande arbete i utsatta områden i Stockholm med barn under 13 år. A Christmas for everyone?

Christmas 2021 will probably be one of the most difficult Christmases for children in Project Playground's operations in South Africa. Many families living in vulnerability have been hit hard by the pandemic and the country still has high unemployment. Several of the children have lost family members due to Covid, and with continued isolation, it will be difficult for the children in vulnerability to feel the joy of Christmas. For many, Christmas is the most difficult time of the year, families cannot afford gifts or food and, in many homes, abuse and violence escalate. When the school is closed, the children have nowhere else to go but the street - perhaps the most dangerous place for a child to be. PROJECT PLAYGROUND provides holistic, capacity-strengthening programs and support to over 400 children aged 3 to 18 who live in the townships of Langa and Gugulethu outside Cape Town. The areas are socially and economically disadvantaged, in a country with an absent support system. Many of our children face daily challenges as a result of living in poverty: neglect, abuse, malnutrition, poor access to education and a lack of positive and loving role models, something that is worsened during the pandemic and isolation. The heart of our work is our centers - safe places for children and youth where they can develop just be children. Our facilitators meet the children's physical and emotional needs, including being positive and loving role models and often take on the role of teacher, sibling, parent and friend. Every year we hold a Christmas party for all the children in our operations. At the Christmas party they get to play, eat a good and nutritious meal, they get Christmas candy and a Christmas gift - a sign of love and support which is especially important as many of our children do not feel loved or supported at home.
