COVID-19 response for Asulma Center in Nairobi
Engineers Without Borders Sweden is involved in several international projects. These projects concern access to water, sanitation, education, health care and energy. All our projects are done in collaboration with our local partner organisations. As an effect of the current pandemic situation, we currently extend and rephrase some of our projects to help our partner organisations to limit the spreading and the impacts of Covid-19.
In Nairobi, EWB-SWE supports a school in Kariobangi, a low-income area. The support includes computer installations and a solar kitchen diffusion project. These projects cannot proceed due to the current situation. Instead, a water tank will be installed, which is of great need. When the school is locked down the water tank can also serve the families with children who are pupils in the school.
EWB-SWE is financing a water tank with a volume of 10 000 litres, and the installation of a concrete foundation. The cost for the installed tank is around 7600 SEK. There is also a need for water disinfectant and soap. The water disinfectant costs 1300 SEK (50 dozens) and soap 2100 SEK (84 dozens).
